The PearlieMae Group

Ecosystem

The Mission:

The PearlieMae Group is a public charity named after a deceased public-school teacher and community leader.

We have collaborated to create a blueprint for economic and community building.  Our belief is by combining social entrepreneurships and civic engagement within low-to-moderate income families and veterans increase the likelihood of their success against these odds:

  • Official U.S. Census Bureau statistics estimate 37 million persons, 11.4 percent of the total population, were poor in the United States in 2020.

  • According to 2018 US Census Data, the highest poverty rate by race is found among Native Americans (25.4%), with Blacks (20.8%) having the second highest poverty rate, and Hispanics (of any race) having the third highest poverty rate (17.6%). Whites had a poverty rate of 10.1%, while Asians had a poverty rate at 10.1%

  • $60 Million Americans are unbanked (do NOT have a real bank account) or underbanked (have a bank account with limited products and services) (Federal Reserve Bank 2019 Study)

  • $12 Million Americans are forced to use payday lenders (a $30 Billion industry) to meet daily financial needs. PAYDAY LENDERS outnumber McDonald’s Restaurants in the United States. (Bankrate 2021 Study)

  • $16 Trillion lost from the U.S. Economy, in the past 20 years due to racism decreasing African American homeownership, employment, and entrepreneurship (Citigroup 2021 Study)

  • African Americans are 3 times more likely to be denied a business loan

  • African Americans earning $100,000 per year are less likely to get a home loan than White Americans earning $30,000 (Federal Reserve Bank Study 2015)

  • African Americans earning $100,000 per year with a home loan are more likely paying a higher interest rate than White Americans earning $30,000 (Harvard University 2021 Study)
